A Research-Led Foundation for Athlete Performance in India
Acrophase originates from IIT Madras, built on more than eight years of applied research and development in sports science, human performance, and athlete monitoring. What began as a research initiative within the institute has evolved into a comprehensive performance ecosystem—bridging laboratory science with real-world athletic application.
This foundation ensures that Acrophase’s methodologies, systems, and services are grounded in scientific rigor, validated through field deployments, and engineered for Indian sporting contexts

Our IIT Madras Roots
Acrophase operates as a human performance and sports science initiative housed at IIT Madras, drawing on the institute’s strengths in engineering, biomedical systems, data science, and applied research. The work is led by a multidisciplinary team of engineers, researchers, sports scientists, and performance experts affiliated with the institute.
Over the years, this ecosystem has resulted in:
-
A dedicated ₹7 crore Human Performance Laboratory within IIT Madras
-
Development of proprietary technologies for physiological monitoring, biomechanics, and athlete analytics
-
Peer-reviewed research outputs and national collaborations
-
Field-validated systems deployed with academies, federations, and athletes across India
This close institutional alignment enables Acrophase to translate academic research into scalable performance systems, rather than isolated studies.
HUMAN PERFORMANCE LAB
At the core of this relationship is the Acrophase Human Performance Lab at IIT Madras, which serves as both a research facility and an applied testing environment.

The Importance of the
IIT Madras Base
The Acrophase–IIT Madras relationship provides more than credibility—it provides continuity and accountability.
-
Research methods are peer-reviewed and evidence-backed
-
Systems are engineered, not assembled
-
Data governance, security, and ethics follow institutional standards
-
Knowledge transfer and capacity building are built into every deployment
